Metalwork

Metalwork

Metalwork, Swordsmithing, and Blacksmithing are all in the same realm of craft. It’s a long process of forging metal using a hammer, grinder, heat, and cold. The heat is used to make the metal flexible and the term is called “Tempered”.  The cold is to harden the metal, the term is called quenched. One way to tell if the sword is complete is for the flame to essentially polish the sword, so much so that the Blacksmith can see his own reflection on the metal inside the flame.

You’ll call her wild,
she’ll call you play.
You can have a body of iron,
and she would forge you her way.
You need patience of a blacksmith,
to convince her to stay.
She can seduce you with silence,
and allure you with violence.
She’s a double-edged sword,
her mind won’t be ignored.
Tempered by the fire that excites her,
when the heat ignites without shame,
and only when you see your reflection
in her erratic flame.
A man with a craft is who she’ll claim,
but don’t forget she has sharp edges
that you polished the same.
You quenched the blade,
that forced her spirit cold
and her soul betrayed.
The weapon is for bloodshed
because her love for you was misled.
She would carve your veins
if you left her heart broken in chains.

7 Year Itch

7 Year Itch

I felt the adrenaline in my veins.
I’ve seen the rage in my eyes.
I’ve smelled the fear in your lies.
You stood like a coward
defeated by the demons you empowered.
You may have chose our path,
but I embodied my wrath
with clinched fists and a firm voice
“I hope you rot in hell” was my choice
I smiled with dignity,
set fire to the mystery,
as I drink from my glass of victory.
Redemption with Authenticity.

Based on my true story

Dust Settles, I won’t.

Dust Settles, I won’t.

Born to a world,
trapped in a cage.
with clipped wings,
and a passion to fly.
Dreaming of the wind,
Soaring at new heights,
The spirit of an eagle,
But the life of a lovebird

This particular poem was inspired by a past relationship.

He was “Reaching” and I was “Settling” although it didn’t feel that way at the time. He told me “if you weren’t with me, I could see you being anywhere, Paris, Montana, anywhere but Corning.”

I guess I was unaware of the potential and natural ambition inside me.
And it’s true, we learn the most about ourselves when we only have ourselves to spend time with. We learn, we grow, we make the impossible, possible, and we live again.

Scandalous

Another night, Another heartache
Another stranger, A different bed
It’s just a phase
It’s how it goes nowadays
A physical connection
Don’t open up; deflection
Just hope he can keep an erection
Leave before sunrise
Wear windblown hair as a disguise
Another day, They’re all the same
It’s just a game, Nothing new
When all I think about is you

Blind, Confused, Clueless Love

Blind, Confused, Clueless Love

She was intense
like a flame to a dry field
It spreads, it burns,
she demands your attention.

She was timeless,
like a wave crashing on the sand
fluently alive, raging furiously,
and manipulating your emotions.

That girl was beautiful,
a frequent imbalance of naughty or nice,
urging you to protect her or defend yourself,
begging you to walk then run,
– to her or away from her,
forcing you to decide.

She was magnetic,
She was gravity,
She was pressure,
She was force.

That girl is love.

Hey baby, I love you, and baby, I need you

Hey baby, I love you, and baby, I need you

you’re in my dreams,
i see you there, but i don’t know you.

you’re in my fantasy,
every thought, every wish

you’re in my head,
i can feel you, and i can feel your warmth

you’re on my lips,
like the taste of honey, floral and sweet

you’re in my heart,
like the smell of pine on a summer Mendocino drive

you’re my shoulder,
not to cry on, but to hold on to, strong and firm

you’re my sweet escape,
every morning, day, and night

you’re my mystery
that captivates and soothes my soul
